fine•earth Studio Offering pottery classes for kids and adults. Our Emphasis is on the use of the potter’s wheel. We also provide students with opportunities for exploration of handbuilding tools & techniques. Small class size, personal instruction, in a supportive, creative, cooperative environment.
Studio Membership
Monthly studio memberships are available to a limited number of adults with prior pottery experience. Members hold a key and have unlimited access to the studio except during scheduled classes.
Open Studio
Drop in during Open Studio time to practice wheel throwing and handbuilding and complete projects independently. Public welcome. Reduced rates for currently enrolled students.
Special Events
fine•earth Studio is available for private workshops, groups, and parties. Enjoy a group wheel throwing lesson or beading class. Kid birthday parties or Mom’s getaway evenings are lots of fun!
Parent/Child Class
Join your child for a 4-week, project-oriented class. Parents and children use the potter’s wheel and explore handbuilding techniques to create individual and joint projects.
Youth Classes (8–18 years)
After School Clay Club
Project-focused, 6 and 8-week classes (once weekly) emphasize using the potter’s wheel as well as handbuilding & working with extruded forms. Healthy snacks are provided.
Early Release & No School Workshops
Project-focused half- and full day workshops when Madison schools have early release or are closed
Homeschoolers’ Clay Date
All ages and skill levels invited for on-going once weekly pottery classes.
Summer Clay Day Camp
Week long themed pottery camp for kids 8-18 years. Wheel throwing. 3 hours daily. healthy snacks provided.
Adult Classes
8-week classes (once or twice weekly) for adults of all skill levels are offered in a comfortable, small group setting.
Beginning Wheel Throwing
Learn the basics of working on the potter’s wheel. Classes cover centering, pulling, forming small cylinders & bowls, trimming, decorating & glazing.
25lbs of deaired clay included.
Intermediate Pottery
Improve your throwing skills and make new forms, including lidded vessels and forms with spouts & handles. Explore combining with handbuilt and extruded components.
25lbs of deaired clay included.
Advanced Throwing
Learn techniques for centering & throwing larger forms as well as altering and combining pieces.
50lbs of deaired clay included.
Bisque and Glaze Firing
Bring in your pre-made pots for bisque firing and Cone 6 glaze firing. Alternatively, purchase our handmade bisqueware to decorate or glaze.
