Camp Descriptions
Wheel Thrown Pottery
Beginners and Continuing students welcome. We will learn basic wheel technique, and continue building our skills as potters. Multi-age and multi-skill levels blended in one group gives us a great opportunity for an atmosphere of support, cooperation and collaboration. Maximum of 6 students/session.
Hand building Pottery
Let’s slow down and explore some new techniques together. Stamp making, slab building, layering colored clays. Maximum of 6 students/session.
BIG Quilt
No sewing experience needed. We will be using a sewing machine and iron. At the end of the week each student will take home a quilt large enough to use for a sofa size throw or picnic blanket. Perfect for an evening at the Concerts on the Square.
Students will design their own quilts using an improvisational piecing technique. We will work together as a group to assemble and machine quilt each quilt. Students work will be inspired by images of Amish quilts, the African American quilters of Gee’s Bend, and contemporary art quilters, including Nancy Crow and Eleanor McCain. Maximum of 4 students/session.
Handmade Beads & Jewelry
We will be making kiln fired ceramic beads, paper beads, and polymer clay beads. We will combine our homemade beads with glass and stone beads to create unique pieces.
Colorful Crafts
Color is the key to this week! Students will learn basics of the color wheel and color theory. We will then plan a bunch of fun projects using our new understanding of color. Basic beaded jewelry techniques, Tie Dyed t-shirts, Shibori dyed silk scarves, Iris Folding, Beaded Animal Keychains.
